CONTEST CLOSED!
Coachella Was A Blast

Coachella was a blast, and if you weren't therewhere the heck were you? Don't tell me that you put all your eggs in one basket and prayed that you would be the winner for free tickets from etnies. Didn't your parents teach you to always have a backup plan? I suppose you get lectured
enough already, so I'll get right down to the weekend's events and fill you in on what you missed.
Everyone seemed to come out on Saturday for the headlining band, Radiohead. But, myself and plenty of others were stoked to catch sets by Death Cab for Cutie, Trail of Dead, The Stills, the (International) Noise Conspiracy and the Section Quartet. This last band was very impressive--mainly because they all played violins. Yes, you read that correctly--violins. As dusk began to fall, everyone, including our contest winner Elizabeth, began migrating toward the
main stage. It was rad to have Elizabeth rocking out with us for the last two sets of the night, and Radiohead's performance alone was worth the drive and the money spent. For me to put it in words wouldn't do it justice, so I'm going to head right into Sunday.
Le Tigre, Broken Social Scene and The Flaming Lips stole the show on Sunday. Broken Social Scene had the whole crowd into their special brand of love music. The fact that their guitarist proposed to his girlfriend during the set definitely helped elevate the energy on stage and in the crowd. I was so moved that I even shed a tear. As if it weren't enough to have animals
on stage, The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne also emerged into the crowd in a huge plastic bubble. After floating around for ten minutes, he came out of his shell and played a short, yet amazing set. The more I think about it, that was the best form of irony I've ever witnessed.
After those antics, some of the etnies crew bypassed The Cure to see Le Tigre, and it was the best decision we could've made. Their stage presence was over the top, using visuals that give you reason to pay attention and immerse yourself in the chaos that took place for the last forty-five minutes of Coachella. At a little past midnight, the weekend was officially over and we were officially over it. Until next year, goodnight!
