etnies & Deftones Contest!

by: Brink | Tuesday, December 26, 2006

The long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s Deftones is deceptively tuneful and alarmingly heavy, see-sawing between melancholy reflection and jaw-clenching frustration like a manic depressive refusing his meds. Saturday Night Wrist incorporates disparate elements of hard rock, heavy metal, punk, classic, alternative and electronic music within its tumultuous grooves.

Overall, Saturday Night Wrist is experimental and innovative, it overflows with undeniable hooks, which serve as reminders that first and foremost, Deftones will always be about strong, emotionally resonant songs. Today’s Deftones have emerged stronger, smarter and more excited as a result of their experience. The end result of that is Saturday Night Wrist.

esp

To celebrate the new Deftones album, etnies and the band are holding a contest to giveaway an ESP guitar signed by the band, free etnies shoes, pink Nokia cell phones and more! All you have to do is fill out this form and we will choose the three lucky winners soon! Good luck!

Last Chance For The THP8 Contest!

by: Brink | Thursday, December 21, 2006

Tony Hawk’s Project 8™—so real, you don’t just skate it…you feel it.
Reengineered from the ground up for Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles, Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ immerses players in the definitive skateboarding experience using ultra-realistic graphics, enhanced physics and extremely responsive controls that simulate the feeling of skating with every trick and bail. The game hits stores in November 2006 and is available on PlayStation3, Xbox360, PlayStation2, Xbox and PSP.

etnies is celebrating the release of the much anticipated and exceptionally wonderful Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ video game with a contest! Why are we so psyched about it? Well it seems our very own Mr. Ryan Sheckler is featured in the game, so are his shoes and plenty of other etnies gear…and that gets us hyped! So if you decide to enter (and you’d be a fool not to) and if you are one of seven lucky winners, not only will you get a free copy of Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ but you’ll get a free pair of etnies Sheckler shoes to boot! All you gotta do is fill out the form! Good luck!

Take Action Tour On Sale Now!

by: Brink | Monday, December 18, 2006

tat

“Punk rock has been known to accentuate the negative, but a number of bands have joined to promote suicide-prevention efforts on the Sub City Take Action! Tour.” —USA Today

"This tour is about much more than just music. It’s a way to get information out to kids, who might be at risk, and it helps people realize that depression and things like that are legitimate mental illnesses.” — Sugarcult guitarist Marko 72

Tickets for the 2007 Sub City Take Action! Tour, the celebrated nationwide, charity tour showcasing the premier talents in punk music and alternative music, went on sale the weekend of December 16 through Ticketmaster and Takeactiontour.com. The tour will kick off February 1, 2007, in Washington, DC and run for seven weeks in 40 states. The Take Action! Tour brings the issues of suicide and depression to the front page and benefits the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454).

Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is etnies own The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ debut album, Don’t You Fake It, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album was released just 4 months ago and entered the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at #25, they currently have the #6 song in the country at Alternative Radio with "Face Down," which tackles the tough topic of domestic violence.

This year’s ticket pre-sale was the most successful in the tour’s history making it very important for fans to act quickly on the fast selling tickets.

Take Action, founded by Hopeless & Sub City Records, aims to create a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work. Hopeless/Sub City Records founder Louis Posen talks about why the tour is important. “Suicide kills 13 people every day between the ages of 12 and 24. We hope that together, we will be able to significantly lower that number by letting people know there are resources available and people who care. I can only imagine what wonderful things those 13 people per day could bring to the world if they only had the chance."

Hopeless & Sub City Records are happy to once again donate 10% of all 2007 Take Action! Tour ticket sales and 5% of the retail price for each Take Action! Volume 6 compilation CD sold to the Youth America Hotline! 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454). The benefiting charity was founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center to help young people in crisis through peer-to-peer counseling and educating young people about mental health issues. Take Action raised over $100,000 last year for the Youth America Hotline! Since the start of the tour in 2001, Take Action! has raised over $350,000 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center and the awareness built has helped increase government funding for suicide.

Hot Topic, the music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com), is once again the title sponsor of the tour. Hot Topic is a natural fit, as they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Since the inception of Take Action in 1999, Hot Topic has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Take Action cause, helping to save countless lives and educate millions of people to make a difference. Additional 2007 Take Action! Tour sponsors include Purevolume.com, Music Choice, Etnies, Alternative Press Magazine, Chord Magazine, Fanscape, Punknews.org, Absolutepunk.net, Stim.tv, Downloadpunk.com, and Rockthestreet.com.

Record labels generously supporting the tour this year: Virgin Records, Tooth & Nail Records, Immortal Records, Fearless Records, and Hopeless Records
