etnies Iceland Jacket Review Breaks Bones! http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/11/27/etnies-iceland-jacket-review-breaks-bones/ Tue, 27 Nov 2007 12:23:26 UTC International The Latest http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/11/27/etnies-iceland-jacket-review-breaks-bones/ etnies blog image

Joe Sketch over at Crossfire went to the hospital wearing our new Iceland Jacket. While at the Kings College Accident and Emergency ward, Joe put the jacket through pretty much every test you could think of and even invented new uses for it; like converting the hood into a handy note holder and head rest.

Unfortunately Joe broke his scaphoid, but in doing so he wrote a very entertaining review.

etnies and Blinde Eyewear Bash in Oz! http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/10/17/etnies-and-blinde-eyewear-bash-in-oz/ Wed, 17 Oct 2007 17:12:42 UTC International The Latest http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/10/17/etnies-and-blinde-eyewear-bash-in-oz/ blinde2

To celebrate etnies and Blinde Eyewear's new upcoming lines for 2008, both companies threw a 'lil evening bash in Sydney at the MTV Gallery, Darlinghurst on Friday, the 12th of October

Seeing as it is the month of October, the theme for the evening was "Fantasy", and all who were invited were encouraged to dress in black attire... because after all, who doesn’t like black (or Halloween, for that matter)?

Gorgeous models, DJ’s, coffins, bats, spider webs, bubbling cauldrons, lots of free booze (the crux of a good shindig) and plenty of good grinds delivered the mood. And of course, Aussie lads Faker rocking out the crowded gallery as it throbbed to capacity. It all for an exceptional night, as Sydney prepares itself for the greatest time of year, the Australian Summer.

With etnies/Blinde rider Mark Mathews gallivanting around the globe, chasing big waves and therefore unable to attend, it was left to our boy, the ever relaxed and humble air freak, Mr Asher Pacey, to hold it down for both companies signing autographs and rubbing shoulders with the 350 or so crew who ventured out this evening to see what was the good stuff coming up in footwear and shades for Oz.

French Fred just wrote in a note of thanks...

Boys and girls,

Here's some pics about my exhibition in Sydney. It went a bit weird since the Ali and Shane madness that occured the night before. And of course the show wasn't named after them tragic events. But I want to say a big thank you for the help. Without the sponsors 'support, and especially etnies', the show couldn't have happened.

MERCI!

Fred

One Foot in the Grave Recap http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/03/08/one-foot-in-the-grave-recap/ Thu, 08 Mar 2007 18:17:20 UTC International The Latest http://etniesculture.com/blog/2007/03/08/one-foot-in-the-grave-recap/ ripshane

Fred Mortagne’s photography exhibition showed last night, at the Monster Children Gallery in Sydney, Australia

It was a nice mellow evening, with a crowd of about 50 people (combining skateboarders, art lovers, and weird street dweller’s) turning up to view Fred’s work, which featured a series of burnt photographs and fire damaged cameras. The reoccurring burnt theme was a tribute to the dying art and usage of analog photography via manual, handheld cameras, due to digital photography.

Digital photography and the technology which goes along with it, is taking over everything in this day and age - whether we embrace it or not.

Fred’s photos were amazing and quite moody, and although his theme seemed quite dark, it still managed to show a lot of passion.

His good friend Ali Boulala was also a predominant feature throughout the exhibition, along with the rest of his friends on the Flip team.

lost gospel
Band, crowd, etc. etc

Aussie rock legend; Phil Jamieson’s new band The Lost Gospel rocked hard at legendary pub/bar, The Sands in the Sydney surf town of Narrabeen this past Saturday night, the 9th of September.

The enthusiastic crowd travelled through some harsh late Winter conditions of gale-force winds and driving rain, to catch a glimpse of these guys playing one of the final gigs for their Aussie album launch tour.

As the evening rain poured down outside the venue in buckets, the Gospel’s did some reigning of their own; working everyone into a frenzy with their melodic rock.

The night was proudly supported by etnies, Spy Optic and Powerlinez Surfshop. Thanks to every one who supported and came to the gig!
